Philanthropy

"Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose." - Helen Keller

Restaurateurs, and the foodservice industry as a whole, consistently participate in philanthropic causes that benefit their communities on the local, state and national levels. Whether it's the good-natured heart of a restaurateur that drives this or compassion for one's community, whenever a community challenge presents itself, foodservice professionals are often among the first to get involved.

The Ohio Restaurant Association and its members support many philanthropic causes.

Round It Up America® Round It Up America

Round It Up America® is a simple program that gives everyday Americans the opportunity to donate pocket change by rounding up their purchases to the nearest dollar. This consumer-driven giving  program provides an opportunity for guests to round up their  purchases to the nearest dollar amount, thereby allowing for  small and potentially frequent giving. While the individual  donations may be nominal, their collective sum is powerful.

The funds generated through the program are directed to local non-profit agencies, such a food banks, homeless shelters, crisis relief centers and services that protect the welfare of children and older adults living in our communities. Ninety-five percent of funds raised by Round It Up America directly benefit the communities in which the participating restaurants are located.

The ORA and The Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern are both proud partners in Round It Up America.

Rusty Bucket Restaurant and TavernThe Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern is the first mission partner, or participating restaurant, in Ohio working with the ORA and Round It Up America, and the ORA anticipates another mission partner later this year.
