ORA stands with Dayton

August 6, 2019

The Ohio Restaurant Association is deeply saddened about the recent incidents that occurred over the weekend in our neighboring city, Dayton, Ohio, and El Paso, Texas. The Ohio incident took place at about 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 6 in the heart of the historic Oregon District of Dayton. We commend Dayton police and other first responders for their bravery and quick response, which brought a swift end to the tragic event and saved lives.

As an industry, we are part of the fabric of the community, and when tragedy strikes restaurants are important resources for their friends and neighbors. That is why we are encouraging our restaurant members and all Ohioans to support the Dayton Oregon District Tragedy Fund. This fund was created by Dayton’s regional community foundation to raise money for victims of the shootings.

The ORA and all our members are holding the victims and their families — and the entire Dayton community – in our thoughts and prayers. And, as a reminder, restaurants and foodservice locations are asked to continue to fly their flags at half-staff in honor and memory of the victims.
